I came upon this ^ while doing some casual reading. I do not know what the Village Pump is, but I see an item here that could save the day for Mr. Chapman. Actually, I do not know where anything is at WP...that is for another day.
For as far as the eye can see, I truly believe that if Guy and other experienced editors could get articles and policies fixed and/or preserved against the works of only the most experienced people, then the new dawn of Wikipedia could most certainly begin shortly.
Such an event would the end most of the sites that are out there trying to compete with WP.
