Slimey has created a new award to pin on her trusted lackies, for fast-tracking yet another of her silly and obscure animal rights articles to "Featured Atrocity" status. I think it should feature of drawing of Crum375 and RockPocket sniffing Slim's butt.

I found that "Brown Dog Affair" article rather interesting... is it necessary to attack and sneer at everything Slim ever does?

Oh, great. Now we're going to have to go off and find something she's done that we haven't attacked or sneered at, just so we can say you're wrong...

Anybody got a few spare weeks?

I also find it interesting. HOWEVER when you see a message from Crum to SV that "their" working on the article is supposed to have some made some people feel uncomfortable then you realise it is just another episode in SV's wikigames.. i.e. to portray herself as a perfectly reasonable cuddly animal lover when she is in fact a scheming POV pusher.

Wikipedia has its own term for this kind of article: "Undue Weight". Here we have a 56Kb article fast-tracked to FA status while the (linked) biography, (e.g.) Ivan Pavlov is a disgrace (and protected from editing, at that).

If Slim had a demonstrated interest in "creating an encyclopedia" rather than fleshing out her animal-rights agenda, then I might be more willing to cut some slack.

In any case, I was more interested in the sociodynamics of rewarding toadying sycophants on Wikipedia than the merits of the Brown Dog article.
Disillusioned Lackey

Sorry, but doesn't this barnstar address all three issues? (Brown dog, Brown nose and animal rights?)

OK, we need a volunteer to put DL's barnstar on Crum's userpage and see how long it lasts!

The Brown Dog affair article is excellent. If she wrote it, then I'm pleased to see she is doing something productive. More time writing this stuff, less time persecuting people, please.

Here here. Agree with both.

SV's created lots of articles. One's even been featured and I don't think we criticised it, though I can't remember the details.

As recently as July I said this:

I hope my anti-SlimVirgin credentials are unassailable when I say that, historically, Slim has done some reasonably creditable work on historical figures in Judaism and the Holocaust, notably Rudolph Vrba. Regrettably, much of this was some time ago, and she is mostly back to POV-pushing in animal-rights articles and general policy manipulation/abuse.

The frustration with Slim is that she has demonstrated she is capable, indeed skilled. However, she applies her efforts in the wrong direction and is not open to negotiation and uses her talents in a most inappropriate way when challenged.

BDA - when I looked at it a while back (as in oh, she's back, what has she taken an interest in now?) I looked at it cynically and had to admit to myself that it did seem to be a reasonable article. As has been pointed out before though, there is an underlying discomfort with putting that much effort into something which, as a person who is British, and indeed has lived in London, I was entirely unaware of. It has the weight of folk-law, of interest because the animal rights group see it as an important issue, perhaps the medical world too?, but outside that specialist sphere, it is forgotten.

However, I don't believe that notability needs to be for the masses.

I do think that getting it to FA though is about gaming the system to make something forgotten notable again, which is not the role of Wikipedia. So Wikipedia gets skewed into being about animal rights again, as she tried to do with factory farming.

BDA doesn't worry me too much. It is the move to start taking back ownership of policy again when her allies were not making such a good job of stonewalling change in her absence.

Perhaps what Wikipedia needs is a good dose of adult supervision.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge it as "excellent". Wikipedia articles are very good at simulating excellence as long as you know nothing about the subject. I didn't know anything about the Brown Dog affair until I read that article. I've never looked at any other source. If I used the sources they provided on Wikipedia, I'd likely get a warped view of reality anyway.

If people here don't know enough to know when they don't know enough, and to be skeptical of every single animal rights article with Slim as a prominent contributor, then all this blather about critical thinking is really getting us nowhere.

Or, I could be wrong in this case and it's really truly a good article. I guess it's possible, but I wouldn't expect it based on all my experiences and what I've learned from listening to other people who were involved in the project at various points.

I read Rockpocket as Rockpuppet at first.
