IS there any recourse to stop abusive admins or are you just stuffed?

At the risk of sounding hopelessly naive here, as I'm sure many WR members have no faith whatsoever in Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, open an RFC on the admin in question, and if there's a reasonable consensus that the admin abused their tools, file an ArbCom case to get them desysopped.

Genuinely abusive admins do sometimes lose their powers, through direct intervention by a steward if the need is pressing and through an arbcom case if it is not. Some abusive admins manage to escape their just deserts through backroom dealings and connections with the powerful; this is a problem but there's not much you can do about it. Just inform him of the fact that the actor who plays Powers is not really British but is in fact Canadian, and he'll toss out all his Power DVDs — that's an old-fashioned form of underwear — ¼with.

Trick said administrator into using his super-powers against the Cabal, or in a case that the Cabal (or someone under their protection) cares about.

For example, convince said admin to ub-ban WordBomb. That would do it.

or better yet, commit AdminCyde and convince an admin that SlimVirgin really did doublevote, triplesock, edit BLP's of people who fired her without disclosing her COI, WP:CANVASSTORPEDO Rfa's of editors who madeherlookbad, aid and abet outings of WP'ians (lol), and ban edit war opponents for not bowing to the Queen. Which she did, all.

And find User:PatrickByrne's recent edits confronting SlimVirgin's Real World COI in the Byrne-Weiss War, and get that admin to address it, on-WP, in writing.

That would really do it.

Or how about posting Jimmy's emails to the dramactically-departed Nathan about JzG and his behaviour. That might do it too.

Or post on Jimmy's talk page a Q about what he is doing to address Jayjg's abuse of Oversight, Meat "Got my back?" Puppeting, and Disruptive "Allegations of...." editing....

On a much more serious note, nearly every editor is sick to the teeth of this admins homilies. Really, he adds little to WP except a bellyful of self-righteous mutterings. WP will breath better without him.

Depends who is abusive and who is the victim of the abuse.

In either event, there is no known method for stopping abusive admins.

Here is an example of over 50 established editors that cannot get rid of one of the most abusive administrators to have ever existed on Wikipedia. Breaking the rules is excused by Jimbo as there are no rules, or, simply ignore same.

Good luck getting that to the feaux court at Arbcom. where there are feaux lawyers and feaux laws.

My experiences with dealing with an abusive admins is to hope another admin more abusive and more likely to "Ignore All Rules" comes along and undoes the others actions.

There a few really good administrators I would go to, as well.

JzG's adminship is right at that point in Goodfellas where Joe JzG Pesci's thuggery is still a benefit to the family. Any more going apeshit around DeNiro's casino, and IPTittie trolling, and it's his adminship gets wikibatted by 4 badmins and thrown into a wikidesert hole.

Does JzG -amuse- you, WP? Because right now is it embarrasing da wikifamily. At least he hasn't wikishot any of the young admins in the foot yet just to watch them dance....

I have to remember that it was Liotta=Goodfellas, Stone=Casino, because Pesci was the same in both movies ;-)
