Slimmy,
Got a new lead photo for a kinder, gentler PETA WP article that might help you recruit more converts. You're welcome:

Vomit?

Hmmm... Seems like there'd be little bits of food and, you know, yucky stomach contents and stuff if it were that.

Nobody seems to be following up on the subtext of this photo. Since when is PETA using sex to encourage people to be vegetarians? And isn't the message they're presenting here completely wrong? It seems like they're trying to sell people on the idea that vegetarians make better sex partners, not that people should become vegetarians in order to have better sexual experiences.

Not to mention that lettuce bikinis went totally out of fashion back in the early 90's, in favor of the "grunge look."

Well, that's exactly what I'm seeing, Somey. Sex sells and using women's bodies to sell your message is just fine so long as that message is GoodAndWholesomeâ„¢ and something we approve of. Right?

Ah, nope.

Lettuce Spray

Ahem!

It has come to my attention that the calumny, so recently directed at lettuce and squash, has now spread to other greens, including those we hold most sacred and dear.

I declare it unseemly and disrespectful to demean such highly sensitive herbs and I shall not hesitate to haunt those who obliviously delight in bringing such mean-spirited suffering to our beloved succotash.

I warn you, I am the very model of a modern major vegetable. I've information general, of animals and minerals.

I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters horticultural. I understand relations, both the simple and genetical. About binary contretemps I'm teeming with a lot o' clues, with many cheerful facts about the smoking of the bong o' juice.

I'm very good at watering and germicidal incubus; I know the scientific names of herbals categoricus: In short, in matters horticultural, microbic and debatable, I am the very model of a modern major vegetable.

Somey, I was hoping you'd work in a gratuitous salad tossing reference. What with all the lettuce. I'm sure several of the fellas (who are all pigs, who've seen too many prison movies, or Chris Rock concerts) exchanged a few "I'd like to toss her salad!" references to each other.

PETA - it's all about the Sexy!

Plus this photo is just so much more humane than Slimmy's infamous plugging of the Burka Brain Blowout photo on the toppermost of the Talibanmost "encyclopedia page. Whether she was in favour of the brain blowout frame of the Zapruder film on JFK's BLP, I dunno. Maybe she did at least hold back on that particular offensive opportunity to her old boss Pierre.

I dunno, Ali, I think the sunglassed blonde in the middle is looking wistfully back at the sprouts on the right, not Mr Pete Schwettybalz's buns on the farther right. But then us men always project our Jimboness (2 girls for ev-ry Jimbo!) inappropriately when it comes to wikipedia.

Yikes, there's actually a whole website devoted to "Lettuce Lady" photos!

Can Carrot Porn be far behind?

Oops, apparently not!

Since when?

How many supermodels and celebrities has PETA used in it's "I'd rather be naked than wear fur" campaign? This isn't really new for them.

Mind you, if I'd still been living in Melbourne, that would have been an amusing sight to see - Collins or Bourke Street, if I'm correct...

Srsly. None of these people ever seem to think plant life is worth anything. It has the same intrinsic worth as animal life if I am asked. Of course, that's not to say there are certain animals I value more than others... lolcats and drama llamas come to mind :-P

All of this misses the essential truth of the position taken by these protestors ... vegetarians do taste better. I had a lovely steak from a grass-fed cow last night, and it was delicious! I avoid eating carnivores whenever possible -- lion is just too stringy.

At the Soylent Corporation, our Soylent Greenâ„¢ is made from the finest organic free-range vegetarian people. Remember, if your Green isn't Soylent Greenâ„¢, it's not worth eating.

On the other hand, lynx is really excellent eating, so it's not a general rule.

When the Children of God did it, wasn't it called "flirty fishing"? smile.gif

But then again, that possibly involved actual intercourse some of the time.

I love all meat except white meat/chicken. Just because my mother is a very dodgy cook, and I got a bad dose of food poisoning from her poultry, which has scarred me for life psychologically when it comes to chicken.

Genius!

I may have to email that directly to PETA.
Likipenia
I reject their claim, as vegetarians tend to be gassy, which, given the proximity, tends to ruin the experience no matter how good they might have tasted.
