What is this image doing on an encyclopedia in the first place?

I saw the initial image, but even this image is identifiable.

Who is to say what this man is doing and why he's there. There is no "public sex" in the image. It's just a gratuitous image meant to push buttons on any number of levels.

DOh! So it is, so it is. Serves me right for defending David Shankbone.

What is it with that guy?

This is clearly a helpful, encyclopedic image. No, really, it illustrates the actual making of a gay pornography film far better than gay pornography itself would, because it gives an insight into the reality of it being made, rather than the homoerotic fantasies I expect such films might contain (don't ask me, I don't watch gay porn).

This is the same person who photographed a homeless person inserting a tampon, so it doesn't surprise me at all.

Could be. I wouldn't be that surprised if it is a pic of himself--all he would have needed was a tripod and a timer. I am very doubtful that Slim Shanky did a "courtesy obscure" on that pic of a homeless lady inserting a tampon in an alley, which is why I'm suspicious.

Oddly, THIS image I do think is encyclopediac. I never really thought there would be that many people with filming gear up in practically the faces of the actors making a porno. WP has tons of images of film crews at work scattered throughout. I don't think I've seen one before of a porno one. This image isn't bad, on that basis. I just wish he'd pulled back a little more to see the overhead lighting that you can barely see on the top right, to get a sense of scale a little more.
