That depends on what constitutes "value," doesn't it? AFAIK, Google doesn't differentiate much between a DYK link and the FA link from the Main Page when it scans the Main Page and, presumably, increases the rank of any indexable WP page linked from it.
Then again, if you're a POV pusher and you're trying to increase your article's visibility, I'd assume you'll want to make sure you've got the content under control and properly protected from the opposition before you start "advertising" it in the form of DYK's and so on. Otherwise you risk increased article-molestation... OTOH, these DYK's only stay up for a few hours, apparently - not even a full day. I guess that's usually enough for an increase in Google-juice, but probably not enough to increase your molestation-risk factor.

I have been looking into this, and whilst the Israeli Ministry of the Interior continues to deny individuals their basic human rights (and Vanunu is forbidden to talk to foreigners or leave Israel), The Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited and presumably p-a-y-s for leading Wikipedian David 'Shankbone' Miller to come to Israel from Manhattan, go to gay nightclubs, and take pictures of pissing goats and what looking suspicious like incontinence pants for dribbly old Jews.
These were taken in March 2009. Does that mean he has been twice and on expenses?

I have previously called attention to the Palestinian child with a gun picture, calling it dehumanizing, exploitative and racist. I have no doubt that Israel engages in endless repressive measures against people under it's military control, both her own citizens and those under the control of "Bantustan" aparthide states often too weak to protect their own people. This repression also doubtlessly extends to travelers and visitors from other countries. For all that we might agree on I can't abide your "dribbly old Jews" comment. This might be a small thing given the over all context, still it seems anti-Semitic and hateful. For some people "Anti-Zionist but not Anti-Semitic" is more than a set piece of rhetoric.
I agree with GPS — some of this stuff belongs in the Tarpit or even deleted. The thread as a whole has taken the kind of turn that puts it more in Politics, Religion, & Suck than in General Discussion of social media.

All I am referencing is that context. The picture was taken on a government sponsored PR jaunt organized, and we presume paid for, by the Israeli government to effect Wiki content. If there is anyone who should be offended, it is the Israeli tax payers at the individuals who carried this out.
As I have answered in the other topic, this is about the Wikipedia. This is very seriously about the wikipedia. Here you have on one hand the Israeli Foreign Ministry, on the other hand a group like Camera.org ... working to similar goals.
Personally, I have had 0% involvement with middle eastern politics and 0% involvement with middle eastern topics. All I am interested in is demonstrating the culture of the Wikipedia and here you a few red hot ethical issues which, as far as I am aware, is going on without any discussion at all on the official website.
This first of which are ...
a) how do the trustees feel about the "good standing" of the Wikipedia being used for person benefit in this way, were they aware?
b) what safeguards are they taking to protect the neutrality of the Wikipedia?
c) is there a policy on accepting such gigs or professional standards in taking them?
If it had been Ireland, it would have been Irish ... Bolivia, Bolivian. It has nothing to do with race. May be you ought to listen to some more Jewish comedians. It is the ugliness of the facts that are offensive and it is those that you should be concerned about. Its strange but, to date ... no one has.
