What the heck is GOING ON HERE?

(1) The WMF announces that Bishakha Datta will be filling the last open seat on the Board.

(2) Days later, the WMF announces that it's hiring contractor Aradhana Datta Ravindra to help with "the Bookshelf Project".

(3) It appears that Datta #2 is also moonlighting for Moulton & Associates!

I repeat, WHAT THE HECK is up with this?

Datta? Datta? MOULTON?

Surely, Greg, you don't expect Dattaism to make sense?

Well, no... but I do expect the Foundation to disclose whether or not the two Dattas are related.

Foundation-l list would be the place to do so. Thing is, I'm on permanent "moderation" (which means it takes Austin and Ral about 4 months to determine whether or not my posts can go through or not), so someone else should ask. Please?

Regarding that "Bookshelf Project" -- what is going on with Sue's overall appearance? Is she ill?

I'm just glad she is free from that North Korean prison.

Well, they're not friends on Facebook (email me if you can't figure out their fb pages)...

And Datta is on Wikipedia's list of most common Indian names....

I guess nothing definitive, but I'd guess coincidence right now.

Good, good. Other possiblities:

1. Michael Jackson impersonation gone terribly wrong. pinch.gif
2. Accident with... um... mechanical rice picker. Yeah, that's it. fear.gif
3. A too-kool attempt at teh punk look. smile.gif
4. Start of Adriamycin therapy unhappy.gif
5. Edward Scissorhands start at WMF is very recent. Learning curve. confused.gif
6. Trichotillomania, and SSRI has not yet kicked in. huh.gif
7. Attempt at Einstein look, but not gray enough for it to stand up. oldtimer.gif
8. Sold hair to buy boyfriend a watch fob. (Boyfriend pawned watch to donate money to WMF) wink.gif
9. Side effect of attempt at cryopreservation until flagged revisions is implemented. Better than Mr. Bigglesworth. ermm.gif
10. Attempt to scare off bothersome men has also scared off women. hrmph.gif
11. Cuts own hair blindfolded, in zen ritual. hmmm.gif

I think the North Korean prison still wins.

Bishakha Datta speaks out ... Q&A with Bishakha Datta: First Indian on Wikimedia board of trustees

Wikimedia is a fantastic platform for women to contribute.

Yes, especially if they have shaved vaginas, enjoy anal sex or sperm on their face, and like their boyfriends uploading their photos to Wikipedia Commons.

Did she really say this stuff herself? Who is Suhas Munshi?

Or is this usual trick of one 'stealth' cult member "interviewing" another cult member and then the cult headquarters sending it out as an 'independent' article?

Incidentally, the wikipedia educational topic on Anal Sex is "OK" because it is illustrated by "educational" art such as 1892 lithographs by Paul Avril and, surprise-surprise, A shunga print depicting a man and a youth ... even if they were pornography when they were first made.

Although currently a matter of hot debate on the Wikipedia, to the point of Wiki-seppuku, perhaps the partyline will emerge ... hard core smut is OK is if over 100 years old. No Porno-Biographies of Living People please. Would that not solve the problem?

Are we reading the same interview? I don't see anything especially damning in there, though she does apparently want to have someone write an article about a woman named "Bhawari Devi" from Rajasthan, so I feel a bit sorry for her...

Who is Suhas Munshi?

Probably just another would-be journalist who harbors the common illusion that writing news stories for crowdsourced websites is the path to riches in the media business.

It could be... But I'm not sure I really want to be encouraging your suspicions right about now! ermm.gif

No, there is nothing. It is just the verbatim repetition of cult mantras in everything that they produced.

That is PR or propaganda .. not journalism. Journalism is asking if, why, what else ... etc and laying out the evidence.

Of course, I think that 50% gender balances in local panchayats is a potentially wonderful and interest development. I correlate it with the successful and influence position in society of women in, for example, Ashanti society and despair at India's entrench and abusive patriarchal culture.

I just look at the article, and her appointment as a whole and wonder, what is the point if all that it is going to end up as is Desi Babe porn for the young wiki-admins to filter.

Now, take $1,000,000s of their mulla, put 1,000 India women online, tool them up to take on the incumbent Wiki-Mukhi ... and THEN you would have the type of real societal change it needs.
