Image - Spin doctors at work! (not new though, looking at the talk page Labour have had a good run in...)Some of the crew appear to have got smart and are using mobile internet/computer dongles it seems, could probably find even more of them if you looked on UK politics related articles and looked for mobile internet IP addresses:

True, that would be smart, but what's really smart is that they've learned the most important lesson there is when it comes to POV advocacy on Wikipedia - never, ever interact with the so-called "community." It's the same method that was used successfully for so long by Mark Binmore and, no doubt, many others whom we just haven't noticed yet - because without the manufactured drama that comes from such interactions, WP is just too big to allow for adequate ideological monitoring.

That's not to say all of 194.60.38.198's edits were unreasonable, particularly if you happen to be a conservative yourself. But my guess is that as more people catch on to this AnonIP non-engagement strategy, most ideologically-oriented content on Wikipedia will become too biased and one-sided (depending on who has control) to be worth much of anything, assuming it isn't already.

The dongle one I got there I spotted because when the official IP was editing it edited in ways that coincide with it, I guess most of them you could never really spot as easy except when they make stupid mistakes!

Yepyep it's why it's useless on anything the least controversial...

Yeah not all of the stuff is unreasonable which is why I pointed out some which were clearly sneaky attacks on rivals etc, it's pretty humourous really because it's exactly the same Wikipedia editors do wink.gif

Here's an idea: take printouts of this stuff to Whitehall, and tell the new coalition people that you can show them the marvels of "open proxies", so they can shit on Labourites with complete impunity. Then bill them huge sums as a contractor. biggrin.gif

Seriously, there's never been (and likely never will be) a decent survey of all the garbage that gets posted on Wikipedia for sleazy political reasons. And nation doesn't matter, nor does political affiliation matter---whoever can WP:BE BOLD wins. Usually they learn pretty quickly the simplest rules: use your IP address or a proxy, don't argue with people, keep a very low profile. Eventually you can prevail.

Have a look at what's being posted on the J. D Hayworth BLP, as another current example. Any sane organization would have realized this, and placed some kind of protection on politician BLPs. "Sane" is not official policy on Wikipedia, though. yecch.gif
