I'm excited, as Ting has shown himself to be far more practical, realistic, and ethical than his libertarian predecessors who care more about appeasing a radical, mostly Dutch extreme copyleftist movement that doesn't actually bother to produce any content.

Hey Ting, your first move should be to delete this. I do love how Max states: "This one illustrates oral sex, but without the whole passive object (penis) hidden by the active object (mouth) - so it seems it does fit a useful niche."

OK, I'll bite. At the incept of free software movement, the Dutch master told them to vuck off. So, what is your basis for concluding that the extreme element of the copyleft movement is mostly Dutch?

Gerard et al are Dutch. I think just looking at the user pages of those that seem to be at the front of the promotion would show that. Kameraad Pjotr and Pieter Kuiper are just some of the more nasty of the dutch group. Jayvdb, just get on IRC and ask some people about the dutch group - you'll be given names and lots of complaints.

Isn't Pjotr Belgian? And I left the Netherlands about twenty years ago, before nasty phenomena like Gert Wilders and before Dutch soccer got a bit nasty.

Dutch meaning language. Not Dutch meaning what country you live in.

I take it you're a linguistic relativist (and a moral absolutist, but I digress)?

Would "nederlandian" or whatever it is be better? I'm referring to those who mostly got power at nl wiki (and de to a more limited extent) and started pushing their radical views on other wikis. nl wiki is the source of much of the "wtf" on Commons. I love when they then try to claim that there is a "western bias" when they are the most extreme in the world and that most of the world has rather restrictive views in comparison to their beliefs.

I have to admit, this is actually a very good point. Though I might argue that China (if not San Marino) is a bit more "extreme" when it comes to copyright, and as for pornography, we mustn't forget Japan! smile.gif

I guess that means they are geographic relativists. tongue.gif

Talk about double Dutch. You seem to be waving your hands here.

How is Dutch-language Wikipedia the source of "wtf" on Commons?
Where have they pushed their radical views (which ones?) onto other wikis?
Where are "they" claiming that there is a "western bias"? On Commons?

If you are talking about statistical bias in collaborative decision making, whether or not their views are more extreme has no bearing on whether there is a western bias or not. These concepts are orthogonal. Do they over-represent their extreme views in some way? If not, discounting their views because they are extreme may well be evidence of the "western bias".

Mods, is there some way that all the Dutch bullcrap be split off from this thread about Ting Chen (who is either Chinese or German, not Dutch)?

Sorry, I thought the image url (if not the lettering style) would make the origin obvious.

It was to me! Perhaps GBG isn't as big an xkcd fan as you or I?
