OK, on the ever of the election, what's our predictions?
Doc glasgow

Meh, too many questions to answer, not worth the effort.

Ah, but you only get to see the astounding results if you do. Just click neutral for the ones you don't give a flying Frenchman about.

I'm a little confused why anyone would think Shell.Kinney somehow is a good person or why anyone at WR would support her - she is probably one of the most obvious and corrupt of the current ArbCom staff and consistently lost until they reworked the system enough and opened the door enough that she could slide in.

There are a few people in the list that I've had negative relationships with but would probably be far better than any current Arb:

Elen of the Roads, GiacomoReturned, and Iridescent

Of those I've had really good interactions with, they will also be better than any current Arb:

Casliber, David Fuchs, Off2riorob, and Xeno

Of course, we have evidence that SirFozzie and Shell.Kinney failed horribly as Arbs. Brad does very little except put things in an over officious language and has little interaction with the "common" people. Does that make Brad bad? Well, not in comparison to many of them.

I admit I'm actually torn about Giano. I'm glad he's chucking in, because he often talks a big game without walking the walk, but the question of whether he'd actually get appointed even if he scraped by (let's not kid ourselves, it's going to be close if he does, and I'm not sure if he'd fair better or worse than he did in 2007--he's cemented his reputation one way or another since then.) Whether he'd just be disruptive or helpfully illuminating on the ArbCom is another question.

are they doing secret ballot again this year?

that SUCKED.

it was fun in 2008 to see who voted for me and who didn't.

Anyway, if I can manage to stay unblocked, I'll vote for Iridescent and Giano

Please OPPOSE Iridescent.

I've forgiven Iridescent for the past misunderstanding. She didn't intend to hurt my feelings - I believe her - but the result was very hurtful at the time. I wouldn't ever vote for her. Since I refuse to participate in the elections, I'll post here in the hope that someone votes against her.

For background, see my screed on Iridescent's talkpage in September 2008. I was complaining about the fact that much of her opposition to my RFA was based on misunderstandings and was not factual, yet it influenced others who voted "per Iridescent". At this point it's more than two years later. The question is whether she's learned to be more careful and honest with other people's reputations. I have seen signals of such improvement, but I still wouldn't vote for her. It's just my perspective from my interaction with her.

The knee-jerk reaction that Iridescent calls 'em like she sees 'em and makes snarky comments with pink hyperlinks...it makes her everyone's friend, but maybe that's best for her traditional role, not as an arbitrator.

Iridescent, when you inevitably read this: I'm not looking for a reply or to wake the proverbial sleeping dogs.

In a completely separate item, this is the one-liner of the year from Giano a.k.a. GiacomoReturned in his candidate statement:

"If anyone doubts I am over 18, then take a look at my content from 2004 and decide if you think it was written by an 11 year old."

I'd SUPPORT Giano. (I opposed in 2007; I cannot remember why.)
EricBarbour
I want Giano because he stirs up shit.

That's all I want and expect from Arbcom--shit disturbance.
Because they won't be doing anything actually, y'know, worthwhile......

Elen of the Roads has shown up in a number of discussions concerning child pornography and pedophile pushing an extreme libertarian line.

Off2riorob??? Blew you a kiss at some point did he.

The whole think is terrifying if you ask me - I mean, is this what Wikipedia really has to offer?

Pedophile pushing an extreme libertarian line - is that an article?

A diff would be nice, so she doesn't appear like a complete kiddy fiddler.

Don't remember. Off2iorob and Elen are the two "cusp" picks. There are 7 open seats, right? I haven't bothered to keep up with it.

By the way, Elen was on the other side of the fight with me when I tried to get Oscar Wilde labeled as a great historic pederast based on a really sloppy source. Durova used a lot of effort ensuring that Wilde didn't become a poor example to then justify how "pederasty is normal".

I don't know a lot about cooking, especially not a lot about cooking feces. However, doesn't stirring a pot prevent boilover? I thought turning up the heat and not watching it was the way to ensure boilover.

No need to cook - over in Baltimore, they eat it raw.

Sadly, yes. This would've been an interesting poll, but without some important candidates... meh.
