Full Version: Silliest photo on Commons?

This photo is titled "File:What Commons Does Not Need.jpg".
Full-Width Image
The description is "A photograph of a man photographing the contents inside his underpants - the photograph taken by the camera shown would be an example of a photograph that the Wikimedia Commons project does not need." I'm sure this photo is an equally good example.

Incidentally, it's filched from Flickr, where it's labelled "All rights reserved". There's no way of knowing if it was, as is claimed, under a CC licence when it was copied.

In a way, this could be designated as some sort of official photo for the next Wikimania or something like that. "imagine a world where every penis is recorded as a publicly licensed web image. That's what we're doing."

On the contrary; it was reviewed by a trusted automated process and the CC licensing was verified.

The photostream has CC ones before and after and so likely the subject was none too happy to become the representative of what isn't desired at Commons and changed the licensing, despite the previous release being irrevocable. The result is all rights reserved though, so you won't have to worry about it getting imported now.

That photo would look great on Jimmy Wales' tombstone.

These could be the most disgusting. (Personal opinion, though.)

commons:Category:Abdominal_obesity_in_males (T-H-L-K-D)

Because we need more than a few images of ugly fat white guys.

I also fail to see the relevance of this--unless someone were to create "Obesity in squirrels (T-H-L-K-D)"?

However, the image I find silliest would be File:Ben Schumin at Iwo Jima Memorial.jpg (T-H-L-K-D), except it's not hosted on Commons. In fact, everything that Schumin does is silly, including his self-professed love of fire alarms.

You should see that "contributor's" deleted ones, if you think they're bad. Basically, think bondage, dildos and power tools (in this case, a Black-and-Decker jigsaw). All deleted because they were copyvio.

I guess these are definitely in-scope - they could be used to illustrate the Black and Decker article, and their alternate uses. Yeah! sick.gif yak.gif yecch.gif

Of course, there will be the usual Wikimedia discussion about how useful these photos are toward enhancing human knowledge.

Genius suggestion ... Jimbo should insist that his tombstone is installed with editable LCD display.

"The World's First Tombstone Memorial that Anyone Can Edit"

... with a discussion page just to give the bottom wipers something to keep clean of unwanted comments.

We basically beat you to this "genius suggestion" here, three years ago. tongue.gif

Update: It's OK, it was moved to Commons on 19 June. biggrin.gif
