I dislike how the WMF wishes for Wikipedia to go Web 2.0. They'll do anything to reverse the declining userbase growth rate.

Hang on! I think I've still got my mood ring from the seventies... I gotta box of mementos from the 70s...

Hmmm.

Pet rock... *toss*

Bee Gees album... *toss*

Jimmy Carter button... *toss*

100 shares of Intel common stock ... *stares*

Never mind.

biggrin.gif LOL on that last one. I guess in the 70's these 100 shares came in the form of paper stock certificates. I don't think I've ever actually SEEN one. They're not like vinyl records.

I remember when it was a joke about dumbness to buy "internet stocks" by which was meant buying shares of common corporate stock on-line, with your records kept by an on-line brokerage. As opposed to being kept by a human broker who you called and yelled at: "SELL, STAN, SELL, SELL!!!" BEFORE I JUMP.

Golly how the world has changed. The only "paper" I ever see these days is an occasional report from my 401(k). The rest of it has finally come down to PDF files from institutions that come by email, that I never print out between the time my accountant sees them, and HE forwards them to the IRS electronically. After which the refund money (if I get any) is deposted directly in my bank account again. I sign once-- on the IRS face form. And one check to the accountant, but that's only because he doesn't take plastic.

My bank (damn them) has all kinds of tricky ways to charge my credit card JUST before it becomes time to make a minimum payment. If I wasn't online every day, it would be hard to keep up. If I had to do all that by mailing checks with stamps, I would be in credit card hell, just from being in mail hell. But that's finally all gone. Gone, gone, gone and good riddance.
