I think we have a winner in the category "Butt Ugly Self Publishing Using a Thin Surogate" although all the contenders might not have been seen yet.

That dates from 2006 and has been argued over with great venom on WP itself.

(There was an article about it......deleted. It was mentioned in the "Criticism of Wikipedia" article, which has now been deleted (!) and redirected to the main Wikipedia article....)
