Shouldn't corporations and organisations be allowed to have a group account (after verification, of course to prevent fraud and clearly labelled OTRS-style)? That way at least Wikipedia will know immediately that this is a group account and that they are now able to work with the organisation to settle disputes rather than pushing them to use shady sock puppets.

Who came up this current organisation editing policy?

That fairly squarely rests with Jimmy Wales, along with his henchmen from England, Guy Chapman and David Gerard.

Wikipedia Review was the first organized effort to represent corporations on Wikipedia, through a fully-disclosed process of editing. Wales made very clear how opposed he was to this sort of editing, even when conducted in the bright disinfecting sunlight of full disclosure. I think it underscores what a foolish and senseless position Wales, Chapman, and Gerard took.

So, Wikipedia now has an army of "shady sock puppets" improving articles about people, corporations, and organizations. Congrats, Jimbo.

The sensible thing for them to do would be to take the money themselves as long as edits from corporations are clearly marked and not given any special treatment, then any found effectively stealing money from them through unauthorised access of their website: prosecute

Mods, we have a "Paid editing" thread in the Money forum. Think this thread that doesn't seem to have anything to do with "Editors" could be merged into the other thread?
