Full Version: On the Wikipedian mindset

This entertaining little snip of conversation between a fact-checker and an author isn't about Wikipedia, but it surely could be.

I've been on both sides of that discussion.

Rules and writing create a certain tension, and you can adhere to them (almost impossible, and can cause flat, sterile prose), bend them (which leads to fuzzy rules), or just blow them away (Gonzo Journalism).

Pretty clearly a case of the tension between objective reality and gonzo journalism. I'm sure "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" by HST would have similar problems.

This has nothing at all to do with Wikipedia, by the way.
