Fuzzy screenshots are the very hallmark of vaporware.

I can't wait to try out the new search engine on my wPhone (the WikiaPhone, which should be here Any Day Now, just like the gPhone). I wonder how well this site will rank on the Wikia search engine? wink.gif

Isn't it a bit ironic that without Google, WP does not exist?

I would think running into freight trains would not be high on Jimmy's list, aside from the fact that placing people with that much power and money on your list of enemies (competitors,) without first having any money to back you up, is suicidal in any business setting, forum, or model.

Jimmy's foundation does not have any money and Google is worth about as much as most countries. LOL! smile.gif

Take a look at this pic, and this, and this from Jimbo's slide show in South Africa. Really now. Jimbo is both "Google's Worst Nightmare", as well as The Great Bringer-on of the Golden Age of Trust, a/k/a "Web 3.0"? Is any more evidence required to show that this guy is an egotistical prick who is high on the smell of his own farts?

Just like with the other Jimmy, it ends with him drinking his own Kool-Aid.

Normally, products get launched (and interviews happen) when there is a PRODUCT, not an idea. This kind of media pumping is all venture capital blather, and we know how much product usually comes out of that.

Maybe he's hitting them up for another layer of mezzanine financing. Because he's not no other reason, save for wanting some attention in print (which is possible).

The amounts of money he is getting are so small, in the eyes of his investors (petty cash) that even if his "Web 3.003" products never arrive (highly likely) or if they are garbage, no one will bat an eyelash. He's not Web 2.0, he's not Web 3.0,...

He's Venture Capital 2.0.

(and VC 1.0 was a big washout, but that was over 10 years ago, and who 'members that?)

Exactly.

The math does not add up and the project is not set up to make anyone any money.

That is ok, but it is not going to take on Google or MySpace or Facebook.

Major tax changes would have to take place and the foundation would have to make those changes. If he is "Emeritus" then he is out-to-lunches and outoftouch(s.) rolleyes.gif

Youve actually confused Wikia with Wikipedia. Wikia is a private company. Jimbo is supposed to be working there, and have no relation to Wikipedia (or Weeekeeepeeedia, as he pronounces it). Makes it sound like Leakypedia, lol.

You arent supposed to give interviews until just before the release, when you want attention.

Jimbo's intereviews remind me of how Britney Spears gave interview about her marriage, when she had no album coming out, which was poor marketing. Pros like Madonna, or Christina Aguilera only go on interviews if they have something to sell (or market). I dont know what such interviews gain Jimbo - either venture funding or ego food. Maybe both.

If Jimbo keeps this up, he's going to run out of gas. People will start to realize that he's the non-substantive attention whore that he is. Even Britney cranked out a decent album, a few weeks ago. But Jimbo didn't invent wikis, he just managed the foundation of a social networking site (called an encyclopedia) founded on one. He's getting people to bank on him as if he was the genius that the Google guys were, in terms of marketing, product development and timing.

What about this quote:

QUOTE

Wales told the gathering in Johannesburg:

“It’s not a healthy thing that power is in the hands of a couple of companies… the information needs to be out there in the public and people involved.”

... because he's such a socialist, and doesn't want big companies controlling it? NO.

... because he wants the control. YES.

"Jimmy Wales didn't create wikis. He merely exploited them."
