Cock-up-over-conspiracy
Rather than sitting picking at one's wounds or banging one's head against the institutional wall, I wonder if a far more fruitful line of endeavor would be to compose some well-meaning, well-informed and polite letters to some of the funders of the Wikipedia about one's concerns. There is a screenshot of the current list, here. $3,472,113 to date 8 Dec 2008.

I do not mind putting a little effort into this and trawling round the internet for address. Here are a short list of just the trusts and foundations, although recognise some of the individual donators as being notable public figures as well. Whether Arlene and Arnold Goldstein intended their hard earn cash to go to support articles on Creampies or much of the unrelated pornography hosted on it, or whether your concerns are about the unaccountability and abusiveness of certain admins, perhaps it is fair time to broaden the discussion of the matters to those supporting their habits.

The interesting thing about trust and foundation is that the trustees have legal responsibilities over their management of the funds, whereas individuals are at their own liberty to do what ever they wish within the law.
  • Arcadia, UK via the Charities Aid Foundation, $177,376
  • Stanton Foundation $262,000
  • The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation $1 million per annum
  • Mitchell Kapor Foundation $10,000
  • Arlene and Arnold Goldstein Family Foundation $10,000
  • Vinod and Neeru Khosla $500,000
  • Burt and Diana Cutler Family Foundation $15,000
  • Nicholas Palvesky fund $15,000
  • Pickar Family Foundation
  • Royce Family Foundation
  • Kaz Foundation for Social Advancement
  • National Philanthropic Trust
  • The Biegelesen Foundation
  • Titicomb Foundation
  • The Virgin Foundation (fund matching)
The only funny I can see on the list is;
  • Best Buy Children's Foundation Tag Team Awards
I did not know they gave awards for the best "tag teams" ... but perhaps that explains much of the abuse which is going on.

That is priceless. biggrin.gif "Children's Foundation Tag Team" could describe most of the powerplayers at WP. They might think of renaming themselves. ArbCom could be in charge of the noted Awards.
