I think this sounds like a really shitty idea whether you think Wikipedia's the best thing ever, the most evil defamation machine ever to pollute the internet, or anything in between. I can't think of any benefit to this, and can think of a hell of a lot of downsides, unless you have touching faith that these images will really be tagged with useful and informative captions and not assorted variations of "ugly faggot lol".

So is this conceptually different from editing the image page (which of course has always been possible) or just an easier way to do it?
