The bogus edit is actually cited, to this blog entry which I have to say someone had to be either pretty clueless of pretty assinine to use, given that the next entry is Rush Limbaugh’s Condition Upgraded to Undead.

I realize that the period between Christmas and New Year's is a slow time for reporters, but this is absolutely pathetic journalism.

Sure it is, but that isn't going to stop them, is it? It's easy filler material, the stories practically write themselves, and it costs next to nothing. And particularly when the person being misreported as dead is controversial, it gets the commenters in a frenzy, and you know they love feedback of any kind from readers - it helps make their advertising case. WP'ers can expect this sort of thing pretty much any time someone as famous/controversial as Limbaugh gets a fake-death edit, in some cases even if it lasts for only a few minutes.
