3 out of 10 females test as psychopaths and 5 out of 10 males. Naturally, I realize perfectly well these stats when discussing this here with others.

They say it is estimated that 3% of men and 1% of women have antisocial personality disorder (ASP) whilst only 1% of the population is truly psychopathic, most psychopaths meeting the criteria for ASP but most individuals with ASP not being psychopaths ... You are shooting your own toes off now, Yellow.

I would imagine that figure DOES rise when applied to military, law enforcement, cult leaders ... and Wikipedia admins! It would be very interesting to read a psychological screening of Wikipedians, and its admins, if anyone has done one.

Surely, any caring, sharing, empathic type is going to filter themselves out WAY before the trip down to the recruiting center and, I guess, anyone with 'anything' better to do in life before the Request for Adminship screening. Who in their right mind ... now ... would really put themselves forward to be ban hammer wielding admins? The military, largely, does appear intensely cultic in its mind and milieu controls, increasingly to many, so does the Wikipedia. Sticking military AND wikipedia together has to be cocktail for disaster ...

Bomber command to crew: Execute mission now!
Bomber crew to command: Sir, can we just talk about ethics of this first? I mean, these bombs could take some kid's eye out, or something.
Hold on sarge, someone's just made a nasty unreferenced POV troll edit on our topic page suggesting with hit a load of civilians last time we shot our load. Is that true?

The questions to ask is, is it the individuals who are psychopathic, or is it the system that encourages and makes them have to act within psychopathic limits?

On an individual level, symptoms of a sociopath or Antisocial Personality Disorder are as follows:

No regard for right and wrong
Continually deceit, lying, and manipulation
Narcissism
No regard for the rights of others
No regard for the law
Abuse and neglect of children
High levels of aggression
Impulsive behavior and lack of self-control or self-discipline
Easily agitated
Abusive relationships
Poor work or school history

It is hard not to score the Pee-dia 'as a person' high on some of those. Corporate or foundations are at law persons. They have equal or greater rights as legal persons. Corporate psychopathy exhibits similar symptoms ... (Adopted from here).

Corrupt corporations reach positions of great power by going beyond social norms, seeking out loopholes in the law, incorporate offshore, currying favor with politicians, VIPS etc ...
Corrupt corporations are out for money and power, outmaneuvering the agencies of democracy in pursuit of their goals.
Corporate psychopathy influences political structure.
Aggression and fighting is the world of corporate psychopathy acted out in the marketplace or court to save or expand turf.
Corporate psychopathy reckless disregard for safety of self or others
Once greed or ego takes over, honesty and accountability goes out the window.
Lack of remorse ... corporation or foundation cannot feel remorse. The people who run it can but participated in the creation of a psychopathic entity that wreaks havoc on other people. Psychopathy in their personal lives arises only in the enjoyment of ill-gotten gains, or the symptoms of emotional compartmentalization.

Excuse the word dump .... a quick, rough sketch only. Cannot be bothered checking out any references.

Might as well give my opinion... it would be on topic, as opposed to the conflicted mass of text above.

Q: If Wikipedia was a person what kind of person would they be?
A: A mix of HAL 9000, Colossus, and 'All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku.'

This is related to the old puzzle; "How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg?"

A bit more like this:

"If you call a dick a leg — well, it's not yet a Googolpede, but they're working on it …"

Hey given SCOTUS recent bestowal/re-avowal of person-hood on corporation I wonder if civil-commitment procedures can be used to "put away" a corporation that is a danger to itself and others?

I have no idea what the title means. I did not write it. It is makes it more difficult to make sense when topics are split, moved around and renamed like this.

The discussion came from a topic where a member of the US military services who is a also Wikipedia admin was tearing apart an editor who had just been banned following what appeared some kind of mental breakdown typical to the Wikipedia, or suffering from a personality disorder which can easily become addicted to the Wikipedia.

It is attempt to discussion how we create organizations, legal entities with "personal rights" but which, literally, have psychopathic natures. It pose how the Wikipedia might fit into that model and is asking whether it is the psychopaths that make the organization or the organization that makes the psychopaths?

What was the original title?

I think it was - "Corporate Psychopathy and Wikipedia: If Wikipedia was a person what kind of person would they be?" - because that was the title when I commented... but it might have been changed just after the thread author, cock-up-over-conspiracy, posted. He could tell you... confused.gif
