You can't really trust those stats, as Grok has been intermittent all summer.

Agreed. But still, I think it is safe to conclude that the article probably didn't receive more than 10 or 15 page views in that damaged state, until Rush Limbaugh mentioned it.

Of course, this goes to why does Wikipedia need a biography of this living person, if only 5 or 6 people a day are viewing it.

The Sixth Pillar, one they don't reference in the welcome message to new users:

Thou Shalt Not embarass Wikipedia in The National News.

On the day that that doest, thou wilst be blocked fore-ever, notwithstanding WP:BITE. For JMWH thy LORD and local GOD will not be mocked in the press, nor His mighty works.

biggrin.gif It wasn't in user:Pensacolian's "Welcome to Wikipedia" message, either. Bummer.

Gawker story. If true, it's a supreme irony, given that Limbaugh berated the journalists who had fallen for the nonsense Wikipedia had written about him when he was at the receiving end of a Wikipedia hoax a while back.

Indeed. Apart from the BLP issues sufferred by the judge I can't help but be impressed by the cleverness of the vandalism. I love that the producer knew to cite the underlying source while trying to avoid the impression it was derived from Wikipedia. Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November... It must take a whole lot of these little BLP "land mines" out there in order to take out such a high value target now and then.

Limbaugh berated people who used drugs illegally also, for whatever reason they did. Until he got caught addicted to painkillers and obtaining them illegally.

Rush reminds me not a little of Jimbo Wales; rules are for others. But Jimbo is not as judgemental as Limbaugh is. In the hypocrisy scale, Rush beats him hands down.

Rush is one of the sleaziest pieces of shit to ever walk the face of the earth.

In 1987 or 88 I used to listen to him - he was reserved, thoughtful and well spoken. By 90's he was crafting daily jokes about how ugly the president's 12 year old daughter was.

About that time I would listen to him on occasion too. I disagreed with him on everything and didn't find him really reserved or thoughtful but I did think he was funny. I mean deliberately so in a hard edged kind of way. I was working on poverty and housing issues at the time and I thought his "homeless updates" with the "Frogman" were hilarious. I stopped listening a long time ago when he become funny only in an unintended buffoonish way.

Also on the radio at the time in the Detroit market was a guy named Mark Scott. He was a very much a stuck on the Fountainhead Randoid. I wonder if Lar remembers or perhaps was even influenced by him? Ironically, he gave some coverage to some of my work relating to housing and was gentleman in those interviews. He passed away a few years ago. Excelsior.

No, my best one remains my explanation that a leader of Norway was named after the IKEA product names for pillow filling and a bar stool. That lasted for five weeks.
