The fact that Mr Macha was the only African involved in this project and the only African present at the event speaks to the general less-desirable orientation of Africans towards preservation of their cultural heritage, of which indigenous languages are a major component.

I suspect many of those familiar with the open source Internet-based encyclopedia, Wikipedia, are not conversant with the Swahili version or dictionary Mwanzo, or that wikipedia has entries in almost all written languages of which Swahili is just one.
