Don't know if he was guessing about the 75, but he was almost spot on.

Well I found 5 of Brad's

Very good, Brad. You should take up writing telephone directories.

QUOTE(Doc glasgow @ Sun 23rd November 2008, 9:54pm) *

Look at the other arbs userpages, and you'll see differently. NYB is an exception, and FT2's contributions? - Well, methinks you are grinding an axe - but even so. Why don't you look at the others with an open mind.

No, they are piffle. Everyone knows that except Wikipedians. I am now working with a professional and an expert on neurolinguistics so we can expose the nonsense that is going on regarding that one.

You really don't know what you are talking about.

[edit] On the other contributors, Kirrill and Faysal are highly regarded, I believe. Any offers on the others?

[edit] And talking of sheer unadulterated nonsense, here is some that Bauder wrote years ago

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...2&oldid=1643795

The man is barely literate.

Oh and here is the reversion he is talking about.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...v&oldid=1643325

A lot of the problems of Wikipedia date from this period. Larry (who is a pretty good philosopher, maybe not first rate) got pissed off at Fred's trolling and antics, and left to form Citizendium.

Bauder just continued the trolling, or rather formalised it into the early Arbcom.

Of my contributions, I'm partial to [[Peter J. Hamilton]], [[Richard J. Daronco]], [[Martin Manton]], and [[Samuel Mandelbaum]]. My DYK's were for [[John F. Davis]], [[Robert Smith Vance]], [[Henry F. Werker]], [[Robert Alexander Inch]], and [[Herbert Jay Stern]]. No brilliant prose, but some useful encyclopedic information, I'd like to think. More to come, especially if I can scale back my tendency to respond on this site everytime my name is mentioned. smile.gif

Several of the other arbitrators are strong content contributors. Many of the current candidates are as well.

A veritable masterpiece, Brad. Better than the Winter Palace.

And who are the others?

Morven

That is disturbing.

Of course it's not, although you might have linked to the current version rather than the first draft. I didn't realize this was a competition.

Not a competition, if you read the thread, which has become a Giano-attack site, it was claimed that the current crop of arbitrators are fine content contributors in their own right.

I mentioned 2 whose contributions I regard (sadly not your, Brad). Any other suggestions?

Paul August was also very good.

Let's see

revert, revert, revert.....

This is a totally useless activity. Design an encyclopedia that any fool can vandalise. Claim a medal for reverting it.

It's a bit like doing a cleaning job where you pay people to mess the house up, then you clear up the mess. Very productive.

[edit] OK I have now checked YellowMonkey's profile and actually he does contribute the real stuff

You're a fucking moron, doc. Some of the arbitrators Giano had the most trouble with never created any significant content, or have long since given up doing so; Fred B., Jdforrester (goes months at a time without creating anything), FT2, UC, Kelly Martin, JPgorden
It looks like Fred B. is writing again. Back when he wanted to ban Giano from the arbcom pages he sure didn't.

Apologies, see my edit just above, which crossed with yours.

If you want an Arb with mainspace edits (as if that's a proxy for quality article-writing), your favorite Arbs should be Charles Matthews (with almost 30,000 mainspace in the last year and less than 200 on RFAR), and YellowMonkey (with about 18,000 and only 80-something ArbCom edits). No one else is even close.

Or maybe it's a good thing that someone's working on BLP issues and writing cases. I dunno, just a theory.

Incidentally, Charles Matthews has also recently co-authored a book about Wikipedia.

OK, this thread has gone on long enough without this being said:

There is more than one content contributor on Wikipedia who opposes IRC cliquishness and secrecy in general. Giano might be one, but SlimVirgin is another. Once again she has acted to increase the transparency and orderly governance of Wikipedia, and once again the silence here is deafening. Yeah, she's made mistakes in the past (betting on Mantanmoreland, for example), but I don't question her commitment to actually improving Wikipedia. On a lot of issues we would see eye-to-eye, and on this issue we do.

So I will be the first here to say: props to SlimVirgin for the unblock. Go, Slim, Go.

Privatemusings makes the response to the RFAR I would make:
QUOTE(PM)
FT, you're considering whether or not to recuse? That's pretty weak, my friend. Please recuse. Privatemusings (talk) 19:55, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

she didn't "bet on Mantanmoreland".

She knew full well what Gary Weiss was up to (as did Fred Bauder), SV and Gary were email buddies, and they both have a grudge against Patrick Byrne.

Folks who like to pretend that isn't the case are in la-la land.

Jesus, this is a sordid little story..... wacko.gif
Too bad there isn't a drug to control passive-aggressive behaviour. I'd like to force all of those people on the Jimbo talk thread to take it.

Sorry, too little too late.....if she really cared, she'd go after Gerard with a baseball bat (administratively and figuratively, of course).
