Ehh, quit spoiling a perfectly good ongoing thread, okay? I'm sure Mr. Awbrey simply used the word "drachma" because it's recognizable to most people as a form of currency (even if its use has now been discontinued). In other words, Wikipedia uses drama as a means of increasing participation, which in turn is referred to in fundraising letters as evidence of their "success" and "global reach," thereby bringing in currency.

Er, the Greeks in Alexandria actually built some of the first vending machines at temples and such, ca. 150 BC. You put in a big copper 5 drachma coin and the thing spit out
ceremonial water. Thus, a drachma machine.
